I’m delighted to present the Annual Report to Parents which describes the work,
activities and achievements of Maesycoed Primary School for the academic year 2019 / 2020.
It was a year in which the school and society has faced unprecedented challenges.
It has risen to those challenges and epitomises the community and social cohesion that
exist within the school. My and the Governing Body's heartfelt thanks are given to all the
staff at the school and yourselves for your continuing efforts to see the children through
these uncertain times.
It has been another very successful year with very pleasing results across both key
stages. Governors would like to thank all staff for all their efforts in contributing to the
school’s continuing progress.
On behalf of the Governing body, I would like to thank all parents for your continual,
valued support and for taking the time to read through the report. If you would like to
discuss any aspect of the report or any other matter that you would like to bring to

Summary Report to Parents

1. Clerk
The Clerk to the Governing Body is Mrs Gaynor Davies, Ty Trevithick, Abercynon,
Mountain Ash, CF45 4UQ.
2. Chairperson of the Governing Body
The Chairperson of the Governing Body is Mr J Evans c/o Maesycoed Primary School,
Lanwern Road, Maesycoed, Pontypridd, CF37 1EQ
3. Membership
The following people are currently members of the Governing Body.
When fully constituted this governing body is made up as follows
Elections will be held to fill vacancies for parent governors upon the cessation of the
term of office or receipt of a resignation.
4. Resolutions
There were no resolutions passed at the last meeting.
5. Election of Parent Governors
The next election of parent governors is due to take place October 2021.
If, however, any Parent Governor(s) resign before this date arrangements will be made
for an election to be undertaken at the appropriate time.
In line with Welsh Government Guidance there are currently no election of parent
governors being undertaken. This will be undertaken when the situation normalises.
6. School Performance Data
This information is not available due to the pandemic restrictions.
7. School Development Plan
The School Development Plan for the 2019 – 2020 academic year was approved by
Governors and is currently being implemented by the staff. The targets set include
short, medium and long-term aims. Targets are regularly reviewed by the Governing
Body. Further information on the current targets and progress being made will be
available at the meeting.
8. Attendance Information
This information is not available due to the pandemic restrictions.
9. Sporting Aims and Achievements
The school takes part in numerous sporting activities throughout the year including
football, rugby, athletics, netball and basketball. We also provide extra-curricular
activities in a variety of ball games, athletics, cricket and fit kids. However these are
currently not running due to the pandemic restrictions.
10. Healthy Eating
The Governing Body fully support Maesycoed Primary School in promoting Healthy
Eating and Drinking. The school continues to promote healthy lunch boxes, fruit
only break times and drinking water throughout the day. The school has achieved its
Healthy Schools 5 status.
